New name and logo honor New Mexico’s culture and mark Con Alma’s 25th anniversary

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Con Alma Health Foundation is proud to announce an important new chapter for one of its most meaningful traditions. The Hero of Health Award is now Corazón del Pueblo: Celebrating New Mexico’s Hero of Health.

Meaning “Heart of the People,” Corazón del Pueblo reflects the spirit of the individuals Con Alma has recognized since 2009: people whose compassion, leadership and dedication are making New Mexico communities healthier and stronger.

The transition to Corazón del Pueblo is more than a name change. As Con Alma celebrates 25 years of serving New Mexico, the new name creates an identity that is more culturally aligned with the communities the foundation serves while honoring the heart behind the award and the people whose work often happens quietly, without recognition.

The new name is accompanied by a new Corazón del Pueblo logo, created to reflect this next chapter. The design incorporates a color representative of New Mexico, further connecting the award’s visual identity to the state, its culture and the communities at the center of Con Alma’s work.

Nominations Now Open for the 2026 Corazón del Pueblo

With the announcement of the new name, Con Alma is also opening nominations for the 2026 Corazón del Pueblo: Celebrating New Mexico’s Hero of Health.

Since 2009, Con Alma has honored an unsung hero whose work helps advance the health and well-being of people across New Mexico. Corazón del Pueblo will continue that tradition by recognizing individuals whose actions:

  • Advance health equity and reduce disparities

  • Drive meaningful and lasting change• Uplift and amplify the voices of their community

  • Demonstrate compassion, leadership and dedication to a healthier New Mexico

In further celebration of Con Alma Health Foundation’s 25th anniversary, the 2026 Corazón del Pueblo awardee will have the opportunity to select a New Mexico nonprofit to receive a $2,500 donation in their honor. The awardee will also be featured on Con Alma’s website and recognized within their local community.
